Happy New Year to yer!

Welcome to the latest quarterly (ahem!) T&M editorial.

With the mayhem of back-to-back releases and a busy xmas out of the way, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on 2011.

On the 1st of December the Time & Matter website celebrated its second birthday.

In the 12 months before its launch and during the two years it’s been running I’ve watched it grow and grow, through the ever expanding discography and gigography to the birth of our own ‘Time & Matter Recordings’ label. From what started out as an archive of the band’s past to the ‘go to’ source of current news and future plans, our ‘little hobby’ has turned into something we could never have dreamed of.

The last 12 months has seen us raise over £2,000 for charitable causes. In what, for a lot of people, are harsh economic times, it renews your faith in humanity, that even in the middle of a financial shit-storm, created through the greed and selfishness of a minority, those affected the most still consider the plight of others, and especially people on the other side of the world whose whole world has been, quite literally, tipped upside-down. Just one of the rewards of doing this ‘job’.

2011 also saw the return of UKSubs.com, a great ‘shop window’ for all things U.K. Subs, designed by ‘John The Punk’, it also saw the welcome return to the fold of previous Subs webmaster Paul Mileman. Paul effectively laid the foundations for the Subs’ web presence and we continue to build upon it.

And so to the future - what does 2012 hold for us?

After nearly nine years of virtually no new material, we find ourselves with the prospect of two new studio albums in as many years. For me this is down to one undeniable fact, and that is the emergence of a new ‘classic’ line-up in the shape of long term Subs stalwart and proven song writer Alvin Gibbs, now longest consecutively serving powerhouse drummer Jamie Oliver and rock solid axe-man Jet. This is one of the tightest and most exciting Subs line-ups we’ve seen in quite a while and it’s clearly bearing fruit.

There is also a prospect of some more solo work from Charlie and hopefully the release of the long awaited new Urban Dogs long player.

Whatever happens Time & Matter will be sure to let you know as soon as possible.

In the meantime, keep sending your pictures and memories, it will all go onto the site eventually, as we wouldn’t have got where we are now without a lot of help from YOU.

Peace!
