ZigZag was a long running alternative/underground magazine/fanzine, which was well respected on the alternative music scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It started in 1969 and went through a couple of incarnations before ceasing publication in the early 1980s.

However, the Subs feature in this issue is not the most flattering interview write up Charlie and the boys were to enjoy! Quite why the author of this one-page piece, Norman Smith, actually interviewed a band he admits he didn't like in the first place, is not made clear, but the band, and in particular Mr Garratt were not impressed with the magazine's previous non-coverage of the Subs. Consequently, Smith was possibly driven to write his very negative article on the band after arguing with his subjects.
