First single release on Fall Out with a completely new line-up (apart from Mr Harper of course) though Jones and Slack had played in the band before any studio recordings were made neither of them would last beyond the next album leaving just Charlie and Captain Scarlet. Steve Jones did however, return on drums for the Magic EP.

The first Subs release on Fall-Out features cover artwork by Knox; the Vibrators & Urban Dogs (Charlie Harper's side project and Fall-Out stablemates) guitarist. The full a-side title is credited on the sleeve but not on the label.
The same sleeve artwork was used for some of the 7" and 12" releases, (see below) so the 7" version has the extra track listed that only appears on the 12" version. It also carries the 12" catalogue number (Fall 12.017). Though on the scan above it looks like the 12 has been unsucessfuly erased from the catalogue number, see enlarged scan below This raises the question of which came first and whether the artwork was designed for the 12" version then adapted for the 7" or the other way round.

The lyrics were influenced by Charlie seeing a singer's reaction to the audience not jumping around (see Left Of The Dial interview from May 2009), a similar lyric turns up in the 1970 Grateful Dead song "Truckin' ", which includes the line "Your typical city involved in a typical daydream".

Credited as a Scarlet Records Production release through Fall-Out Records, the catalogue number (S.I.G.2) is a call sign taken from the 1960s TV series that Captain Scarlet took his stage name from; S.I.G (Spectrum Is Green).

The CD; 'The Fall Out Punk Singles Collection' on Anagram has these notes by Alan Hauser (Founder of Fall Out)

"Fall Out Records started early 1982 as an outlet for the flourishing third-wave of punk. The perpetrators - Alan Hauser and Steve Brown - came up with the name and logo in about two mintes at a bar: 'Fall Out' because of punk's lyrical pre-occupation witha nuclear impending doom; and a 'magic mushroom' instead of a nuclear one because of the punk predilection for mind enhancement and distortion. (Or escapism - you decide!)

...Although Fall Out was conceived as an arm of Jungle Records, for a while it was our most prolific label. Fall Out Records still continues today, mostly as the outlet for UK Subs recordings."
